Why We Love It

Enjoy bright fire-engine red flowers throughout the summer and autumn with the stunning 'Trumpeter' rose.

It's one of the floribunda varieties known for long-lasting colour and clustered groups of big bold blooms so you can delight in the fiery shade for months (with just a bit of deadheading).

The magnificent double flowers are backed by shiny dark green foliage that drops off in the cooler months before bursting back to life in the springtime.

This hardy shrub is easy-to-grow in a pot or a border and as a bonus is very good at resisting disease.

The 'Trumpeter' rose has a light fragrance so think about planting yours in a container near the front door for a sweet scent whenever you walk outside.

The decorative pot is sold separately.

How to Plant

The 'Trumpeter' rose is a dwarf shrub with a narrow, upright shape, so it grows well in containers. It loves any sunny spot, so rose beds are ideal.

Into the Ground

The 'Trumpeter' rose is simple to plant, you'll just need some compost, fertiliser, a trowel and a full watering can.

  1. Water the potted rose to soften the rootball.
  2. Dig a large hole that's twice the size of the plant's rootball.
  3. Mix compost into the base of the hole, then remove the pot and sprinkle fertiliser on the roots.
  4. Position the plant in the hole, then fill it in making sure to cover the rootball with a compost and soil mix.
  5. Water around the base of the plant well and add mulch in late winter

Into a Pot

'Trumpeter' is a compact rose that's ideal for containers, so take a nice large one as well as your trowel, compost, fertiliser and watering can.

  1. Soak the old pot and rootball in water, while you fill the base of the new pot with a mix of soil and compost.
  2. Remove the rootball from the old pot and sprinkle on some fertiliser before placing it in the new one.
  3. Fill in around it with compost and soil.
  4. Cover the rootball and firm up.
  5. Water and keep it moist.
  6. Add mulch in the early spring.
