Why We Love It

'Dublin Bay' is a classic red rose with the rich tones of its velvety flowers contrasting nicely with glossy dark green leaves.

This plant has a mild but fruity fragrance so site it somewhere the perfume will be appreciated – near a path or patio for instance.

As a floribunda rose it produces clusters of flowers that can be enjoyed all summer and into autumn.

'Dublin Bay' is a vigorous climber too so give it something to scale – whether that's a wall fence or garden structure.

To see it at its best it'll need a home in moist but well-drained soil of any type where it can get six hours of sun every day.

The decorative pot is sold separately.

Find the perfect base for any style of planting explore our full range of pots here.

How to Plant

'Dublin Bay' wants sunshine, fertile, well-drained soil, and something to climb. Other than that it's not too fussy and will thrive in soils of all kinds.

Into the Ground

Ready to plant your 'Dublin Bay' rose? Grab a spade, fork and watering tool, along with some compost and fertiliser. It will also need a trellis or wall to climb up.

  1. Mix compost into the top 20-30 cm of the soil with your fork.
  2. Dig a hole twice the size of the plant's rootball.
  3. Plant your rose, with the graft union (where the branches start) level with the top of the ground.
  4. Backfill with soil and compost and water well.
  5. Every spring, mulch and feed with fertiliser. Remove dead heads and spindly growth during the growing season.
  6. Prune strong stems back to 30-40 cm above the ground in the first winter after planting.

Into a Pot

You'll need a large container, a spade or trowel, a watering tool and a mix of compost and potting soil.

  1. Raise your container on bricks or pot feet to aid drainage.
  2. Dig a hole double the size of the plant's rootball.
  3. Insert the rose, with the graft union (where the branches start) level with the top of the soil.
  4. Backfill with compost and soil and water well.
  5. Every two or three years pot up with fresh compost.
