Why We Love It
Why We Love It
The 'Sunny Sky' rose can instantly make a garden feel brighter with its sunshine-yellow blooms. This stunning shrub, which was voted Rose of the Year for 2016, is popular for its elegant flowers. They arrive in summer, decorating the glossy leaves with their vibrance, and giving off a naturally fruity fragrance that will be attractive to the local bees. The 'Sunny Sky' is a low maintenance and easy-to-grow variety which will suit both borders and beds, as well as city or courtyard gardens and patios. But if you want to bring some of that sunshine inside, you could cut a few stems and transfer them to a vase. They'd certainly brighten up a desk or kitchen table with their bursts of colour.

How to Plant
How to Plant
The ‘Sunny Sky’ rose prefers to be grown in full sun, in moist but well-drained soil. It's a hardy plant so will tolerate lower temperatures and will need a bit of pruning during late winter, when growth is just resuming. To improve flowering, apply a balanced fertiliser in late winter or early spring, and then again in early summer.
Into the Ground
First, choose a spot that hasn't had roses growing in it, in recent years. Then get your spade, watering tool and secateurs ready, plus some soil and high-quality rose food before you start planting.
- Dig a hole that's at least twice the size of the plant's rootball.
- Add some compost and mix in high-quality rose food.
- Hold your plant in place and backfill with soil.
- Then give it plenty of water.
Into a Pot
Your 'Sunny Sky' can be planted into a pot or container, as long as your pot has enough room for your rose to grow. You'll need your trowel and a watering can, plus soil and high-quality rose food.
- Sprinkle a little soil and rose food to the bottom of your pot.
- Add your rose, backfilling with soil, using your trowel or hand.
- Firm up and then water.
