When it comes to beautiful blooms, we’re suckers for a show-off. And hyacinths definitely make the grade. Their large, exuberant flower heads mainly come in pink, purple, white and blue (an homage to Marge Simpson) and have a full-bodied fragrance that screams ‘SPRING IS HERE’. If you want bulbs for scent, try hyacinths. Grow them indoors in a bulb vase or outdoors as part of pot displays or seasonal borders. Gardening in a small space? Hyacinth bulbs are great for window boxes and balconies, too. Plant them in autumn for a spring sensation.
