Why We Love It
Why We Love It
This is an outstanding new variety! Believe it or not, it produces two crops in one year: the first in July, followed by a second in September.
As its name suggests, 'HortBlue Petite' is a compact blueberry ideal for patio containers.
How to Plant
How to Plant
Blueberries need a sheltered spot in full or partial shade and they need an acidic soil. If you can grow rhododendrons, you can grow blueberries. If you don't have acidic soil, grow blueberries in a pot instead.
Into the Ground
- Choose a sheltered spot for planting that receives some sunlight.
- Dig a hole twice the size of the rootball.
- Add some ericaceous (acidic) compost into the base.
- Take your plant out of its pot.
- Pop it in the hole.
- Coat the roots with extra compost to firm it up.
- Give it a good water.
Into a Pot
- Fill your pot with a good quality ericaceous compost.
- Make a hole that's twice the size of the rootball.
- Take your plant out of its container and gently tease out the roots.
- Place it carefully in the hole in your container.
- Add a little extra compost around the roots and firm the plant in.
- Give it a water and leave it in the sun.
