Why We Love It

'Beauregard' is a fast-maturing variety of vitamin-rich sweet potato.

It yields a good crop for you to enjoy all autumn and winter and is tolerant of even the coldest weather.

How to Plant

Sweet potatoes are best grown in a greenhouse, as they like it warm. If you don't have a greenhouse, plant outside in a warm, sheltered, sunny spot in full sun and water weekly.

Into the Ground

  1. Warm the soil with black polythene a few weeks before planting.
  2. Mix in some good quality compost.
  3. Create some small wells for the 'slips'.
  4. Push the sweet potato 'slips' into the soil, covering the whole stem.
  5. Plant them around 30 cm apart in the ground.

Into a Pot

  1. Find a container at least 40 cm across and 30 cm deep.
  2. Ensure the pot has holes for drainage.
  3. Fill with multi-purpose compost.
  4. Push the sweet potato 'slips' into the soil, covering the whole stem.
  5. Plant them at around 15 cm apart.
  6. Keep them warm and humid for a few weeks.
