The ruby flowers of Clematis 'Niobe' slowly mature to a soft wine red.
This medium-sized climber grows to approximately 1.5 to 2.5 metres and flowers from late spring to early autumn.

How to Plant
This plant needs well-drained soil but doesn't mind the pH level. It thrives in full sun or semi-shade. Water it regularly during dry periods.
Into the Ground
- Mix grit into the top layer of your soil to improve drainage.
- Dig a hole twice the width of the plant's rootball.
- Pop your clematis on the hole, with the top of the rootball level with the soil surface.
- Backfill the hole and gently tamp down the soil around the roots. Water well.
- Add a layer of mulch to keep the ground moist.
When you're ready to plant your 'Niobe' clematis, grab your spade and a fork, along with some horticultural grit and a watering can or hosepipe.
Into a Pot
- Improve drainage by raising your container on pot feet.
- Add a layer of soil or compost to the bottom of your container.
- Place your plant on the soil with the top of its rootball a few centimetres below the rim of the pot.
- Backfill around the roots with your compost, tamping down gently as you go. Water well.
'Niobe' is highly suitable for growing in containers, where it will cascade over the side. You'll need some potting soil, potting compost or a mixture of the two, along with your trowel and a watering can.
