Why We Love It

These evergreen Buxus Balls are great long-lasting focal points for your chosen outdoor space.

They retain their glossy leaves year-round and are slow-growing and low maintenance.

That means you don't have to work too hard to keep them looking fresh – just water them well in dry weather and give them the occasional clip in June and September to maintain that neat ball shape.

They need a little extra care in winter if you're planting in a container but your Buxus Balls will survive temperatures down to well below freezing making them hardy and resilient shrubs.

The decorative pot is sold separately.

Find the perfect base for any style of planting explore our full range of pots here.

How to Plant

While Buxus will thrive in most situations, they're best suited to outdoor spaces that are partially shaded since they like a bit of sun for at least a portion of the day.

If you're planting into the ground, you'll need a spade and a watering tool on hand to get started, as well as some moist but well-drained soil or peat-free multi-purpose compost.

  1. Dig a hole that is at least twice the size of the rootball.
  2. Place your plant in the desired position and then use the soil or compost to fill the hole.
  3. Give it a good watering and then wait a few minutes for the soil to set.

Into a Pot

If you're planting into a pot or container, you'll need the same tools, plus some gravel or grit and a pot that is roomy enough to comfortably hold the roots.

  1. Add 2 cm of gravel or grit to the bottom of your pot, place your Buxus Ball in and then use compost to fill.
  2. Use pot toppers or bark to keep any pesky pests at bay and help with water retention.
  3. Water thoroughly and then continue to water until established.
