Why We Love It

Enjoy the delicate lilac flowers and ruffled outer petals of the 'Mariposa Blue'.

The blooms grow on fine upright stems creating a vibrant summer display.

As it's a compact perennial it's ideal for rock gardens.

How to Plant

Originally a meadow flower, 'Mariposa Blue' looks lovely in manicured borders as well as mixed in with grasses and other wildflowers. Just choose a sunny spot in moist, well-drained soil.

Into the Ground

'Mariposa Blue' makes a unique addition to any border. To plant it into the ground, make sure you have a spade, fork and watering can.

  1. Make a hole at least twice the size of your plant's rootball.
  2. Pop the plant into the hole, lining up the rootball with ground level.
  3. Backfill the hole and gently firm it in place.
  4. Water thoroughly.
  5. If you're planting more than one, leave at least 25 - 30 cm between plants so that they have room to grow.
Into a Pot

Ready to plant your 'Mariposa Blue'? Grab your fork, a trowel and a watering can. Some compost will also help the plant get established.

  1. Mix compost into the top layer of soil.
  2. With your trowel, dig a hole twice the width of the pot.
  3. Set the pot in the hole with the top level with the soil surface.
  4. Backfill and water well.
