Why We Love It

Bring magenta delights to your garden with Gloriana – a miniature climbing patio rose.

Affectionately known as ‘Chewpope’ Gloriana will enrich walls and fences as well as pillars doorways and arches with its enduring flowering season.

Small blossoms bloom from top to bottom bringing height and colour wherever the rose is draped.

Gloriana likes to adorn a south east or west-facing wall for full sunlight exposure.

The repeat-flowering rose brings floral flushes from late spring to early winter.

It can climb at most approximately 2 metres and takes very little maintenance for the first few years.

After this you’ll need to show the climber some love by pruning to encourage growth amongst its dark green leaves.

The decorative pot is sold separately.

How to Plant

Choose your location carefully, however you're planting your Gloriana. It's flexible soil-wise, but you'll want it to be soaked in sunlight to get the best blooms.

Into the Ground

Pick up your spade, fork, compost and a watering can to bed in the rose.

  1. Take your can and hydrate your rose in its pot.
  2. Dig a hole in the ground with your spade – twice the size of the plant's rootball.
  3. Break up the soil at the base using a fork (this will help Gloriana’s roots to find their feet).
  4. Pop your compost into the base for added nutrition.
  5. Gently place Gloriana inside the hole (angle the stems 45 degrees towards any walls or fences that you want it to climb).
  6. Fill in the soil, firm it up and add a little more water for good luck.

Into a Pot

You can plant Gloriana into a pot with a cutting. All you need is some sharp secateurs, a pot, and some compost.

  1. For a cutting, take a 10 cm long shoot, snipping off the tip just above the bud.
  2. Fill your pot with compost and make sure it’s watered (it should feel soft and moist).
  3. Add your shoot so that half is below the soil.
  4. Cover the pot with a clear wrapping (eco-friendly options like cellulose film are perfect).
  5. Place it in a light, but frost-free environment to let the roots form.
