Back in 1979 Robert and Kim Hurst had been growing aromatic and scented foliage plants and herbs as 'The Cottage Herbery'. Today, that same company is Fertile Fibre.
Robert was one of the first farmers to use coir and approached W L Dingleys in producing an organic nutrient for plants. The company grew through word-of-mouth and was eventually taken over by Matthew Dent so that the Hurst’s could get back to their love of farming. Production capacity has increased twice under Matthew’s supervision to meet the demand on these quality organic products.
‘Sharing our sustainability vision, Fertile Fibre are pioneers of peat-free gardening.’
